This is Luis.
Published February 25, 2026
He was forced into a life of begging from a very young age. Growing up on the streets of Mexico, he was exposed to drugs, alcohol, and normalized violence.
He was eventually picked up by people looking to help him but wound up being placed in overcrowded shelters and homes that were not equipped to adequately care for him. Over time, he began to mirror the aggression he was taught as a young boy.
Until now. Finally, at the age of fourteen, he was brought to one of our homes.
Luis is now surrounded by people who have become his true family, teaching him what real belonging feels like.
In our home, football has become healing therapy for him, as he dreams of being a famous footballer someday.
